First, a definition. The "third rail" of politics is a subject so controversial as untouchables or for taking on essentially mean blowing up her career. The metaphor comes from the third rail of the railway which is exposed in the performance of high voltage power - think of a subway system. To walk on such a third rail means electrocution and death.

Bet you do not think you read on this blog. Ah, but there is method to the madness.

When talking to maps analyst Ron Wolfley about Beanie Wells for the story about himself and Ottis Anderson, Wolf came up with this gem: "There are running backs, there scatbacks, and then there's the back one third rail. Beanie Wells is a third-rail back. "Why? "Because he can run around you, it can go right, he can move left, or he has the option of dipping and tear."

Dipping his shoulder and running people over, in other words. The third rail, in which one moves back up the defender."When you have a big back that the lapping between the tackles for eight yards, 10 yards, 20 years, you interface with the essence of the game," Wolfley said. "All football players has this primal aggression ... and Beanie is on the team."

Obviously, Wolf - who is also a big fan of Tim Hightower, by the way - Beanie loves and what he brings to the table. I know it's early in the career Beanie and the guy has barely 700 yards on the NFL level, but assuming he remains healthy, I guess the third rail will remain intact.

Release him on Sunday struggling Rams could get interesting.

- The conversation will continue over time to play starting, but for this weekend at least, unless the cards to build a giant leap forward, I do not see why the cards will fit against the Rams.
