2009 NFL Season: Week 15 Recap

Here's the scoop on the week that was:

New York Giants 45, Washington Redskins 12. I had a feeling about this game midway through the first disc. The Giants held the ball forever in the first quarter and has completely dominated the action from beginning to end. This game dramatized how brutal the game of football can be for quarterbacks when they play shorthanded. Jason Campbell was fortunate to walk off the field. Chris Samuels, without attacking the left, without Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts, Chris Cooley and without a real safety valve at wide receiver, Campbell has taken a beating. The Redskins still throwing too many short routes. Against a division rival with a high level of familiarity, Washington was simply overmatched. To its credit, Campbell and the offense fought until the end.

Allen last job as CEO has been with the NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers, 2004-2008. Allen joined John Gruden, with whom he had worked in Oakland, following a struggle for control that led to the firing of Rich McKay. During the tenure of Mr. Allen, the Bucs did not draft one player selected to a Pro Bowl.(Davin Joseph participated in the Pro Bowl as an alternate for an injured player.) Selects McKay (including Derrick Brooks, Warren Sapp, Mike Alstott, Ronde Barber and Warrick Dunn) appeared in 37 Pro Bowls and has caught 15 All Pro selections. Bruce Allen is what it is ... the son of George Allen. It means a lot to DC, in May, but it does not mean a damn thing for the Cowboys, Eagles or Giants. Daniel Snyder will continue to get what he pays.

Indianapolis 35, Jacksonville 31. In his last six games, Peyton Manning has started 10 steals. The Colts are still undefeated and Reggie Wayne is still open when the game is on the line. Indianapolis Jacksonville played as a true rival division. Too bad they played the Seahawks, as the Little Sisters of the Poor at the beginning of this season. If Jacksonville misses the playoffs, everyone should point that 41-0 drubbing. On the next Dancing Del Rio: New England. Nothing playoff hopes dashed as the game in Foxboro in December....

My Texans 2012 draft grades + yours Well then, here's a sticker. You have to go someplace else for a cookie. As long time readers know, I am non-fond of draft grades. They are sort of silly given that players haven't played a down. And they are usually done by looking at consensus draft

Point Austin: The Governor's Principles: Perry prefers sloganeering to governing Last week, before the Greater Houston Partnership (that's high-church for "Chamber of Commerce"), Perry unveiled his Texas Budget Compact, a five-point set of slogans aimed at next year's legislative priorities. Why five points, you might ask?
