Like many other media, I offer my honors ten years now, even if we're only nine years after the start of the decade. Just a reminder to everyone, there was no year zero. You may remember having heard that this was not the year 2000 that began the 21st century, but the year 2001. By this same logic, if 2001 marked the beginning of the century and millennium, respectively, while 2010 would be the culmination, not 2009. The countries of the decade is: Europe. No, this is not a country, but it may as well be. By converting to the euro at the beginning of the decade, Europe has strengthened its economy and, almost single charge of leading the world stage.

Losers of the decade: the Christians. When I was a child, I thought Christians were kindasorta good people who went to Mass twice a year. Now, thanks to Governor George W. Bush, they are considered a group of warmongering Nutjobs.It did to Christianity what Bin Laden is to Islam.

Antique of the decade: The land telephone lines. Rest in tone.

Musician of the Year: Simon Cowell. It is not a musician and I dislike what he did for music, but there is little doubt that he influenced the musical landscape than anyone this decade. As a postscript edifying, however, Rage Against The Machine is currently the number one spot at the top of the UK record charts this week with "Killing In The Name Of", a song only reached number 25 in the United Kingdom when released in 1992.Apparently, the number one song in the United Kingdom for the week of Christmas is big business and Cowell has orchestrated the song number one at Christmas last four consecutive years. An Internet push by Rage dethrone Cowell actually worked Brits downloaded so many copies of the 17-year-old song as to dethrone the eunuch danger was expected to take place. Merry Christmas....
